Graduated in 2006 at the Fine-Arts Lisbon University, Joao Gridfonte has been living and working between Lisbon and Berlin since 2008. He took part in many Collective and Individual Exhibitions, represented in the Lisbon Contemporary Art Fair 2007 and 2008.
Drawing is the base of Gridfonte's work, which he develops into possibilities in the 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional space. This is reflected in many different media, such as painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video, and performance.
In 2010, Gridfonte was awarded with the INOV-ART Grant Program (International Internships for qualified youth from Cultural or Artistic domains-Portugal). Ever since 2008, he gives a yearly lecture about his work to the drawing Masters degree class at the Fine-Arts Lisbon University.

Gridfonte also developed an analog systems for photo and film cameras to control the plastic features of an image. He is currently developing a feature film and a documentary filmed with this system.
